Christiana, the most hippy place i have ever been in my life. It was a Navy Zone in the old days but then when they Navy left there was nothing there so in the 1970s people came to make this "special place" where people who didnt want to live the way we do could go. They wanted a different way of living, their own way. Its very good to see, eye opener you could say. Kind of concidered like another country inside Denmark, with all its own ways. A place to buy some food, their own wood, materials everything. There own streets, mostly with tagging everywhere but it's not just tagging its ART. Most are young people i would say, trying to escape the real world and go to this "Place" But older people live there too. Selling weed on the streets and no police can really do anything about it. HIPPY you could say. You arn't alowed to take photographs in there either, because of the selling of drugs i guess.

LONDON Yes you read the title right. LONDON
From the 22nd of April to the 27th Of April i was in Lovely London and frankly i want to move there now. It was simply splendid. A real city :)

And ofcourse they spoke ENGLISH. Damn was i happy to hear the voices all around me in a language i could really really understand. Ohh amazing. Something special to be in a country so similar to New Zealand. I sort of felt a little at home!!

So, first thing i should mention. It was Sara (my best friend in Denmark) and I, tripping it around in London. It was fantastic. Very indipendent actually, like Denmark-- Just catching underground trains everywhere, going all over london.

We stayed with a lovely couple-- Ex exchange student Don ( From Italy, went to Denmark ) and his girlfriend Lisa (From Denmark) , They also lived with a guy from Germany and a couple from New Zealand. Fancy that !!!! Oh and a girl from Australia was staying there with us too :)

Very cosy,staying with so many from all over the world.

On the first night, basically straight after we got there, we went straight to an english pub, well who knows if it was english it was painted like a Zebra haha But very Nice- Had my first Pint ever :)

Thursday we went to some markets, Called Camption town. Very vey interesting!! Like a little town for punks, goths. Old, new, tattoos, piercings, funky clothing, everything :) Kind of like Victoria Markets in Melbourne but better!! A little dodgy, but very awesome. Nearly got a tatto (sorry mum) Hence NEARLY. ha-ha.

Then went to the London Bridge, Very beautiful.

And later that night, we had a beautiful BBQ at home ( they lived right basically in the centre of business london ) Very nice :)

London ZOO- Many Animals from all over the world. Sara and i had made a deal to go to a ZOO in Denmark when i first came to Denmark, but that didnt seem to happen , so we decided to go to the Zoo in London insted :P

Notting Hill, Peter Pan, Markets, Buckingham Palace (was too far away sadly-- couldnt be bothered walking after a day of walking allover london you would have done the same)

Harrods (MOST EXPENSIVE SHOP IVE EVER BEEN IN-DAMN)

Followed by an Italian dinner cooked by Don, and Very Very Sore feet.

Then we went sightseeing on the famous Big Red double decker bus :)

We saw many many many places. To see the London Eye and Big ben. Out to breakfast for English Breakfast-- actually exactlly the same as in NZ. Was so happy to see a real sausage!!!!!!!!! and eggs and backed beans and toast. totally normal :) Damn this was my element :)

We also went to Kings cross and To Platform 9- 3/4. And yes of course i am a witch. We also went on the Hogwarts Express and to Hogwards school. Haha I WISH. :P

Photography

It was one of the most Fantastic weeks i think i have ever had. Maybe for you, it was a little boring but for me. It was a once in a life time experience.
So i arranged to be with an Intern Photographer who i would be with for the nest three days, following, talking and learning all about photography and the business. It was Fantastic. The Photographer was Christian Brandt, he truley is an amazing photographer and i learnt a lot from him. So Lets start .

On Wednesday
I went to the FyensStiftidende offices in Odense, where i met Christian and we were off on our travels. First he had to photograph school Children who had won gymnastic equpitment for the day. This was great just watching Christian, a real photographer getting in the kids faces. Crazy. The pictures came out great :) Then we went to a construction sight on the beach front where This huge house was being build right in front of another other one. So The owner was complaining. Yes a 2.5 Million dollar complaint. SO he took some photographs, and he really helped me see the creative side at any momment. Putting a rope in the foreground and the houses in the background, just to make it a little more interesting.
We then headed over to Middelfart and had to take photographs of a new bank, the architechure was brilliant, it was amazing going into parts of this bank that no other people were alowed to go. Just the reported, photographer and I :)
And ofcourse all the pictures were published in the newspaper for thursday.

Thursday
We travelled to Assens where we had to photograph a Real estate agent Lady who has been selling peoples houses lately because of the financial crisis. She was lovely, and we only had an emty house but Christian again got the creative side out and did something Brilliant.
Back to Odense and to an Italien Reasuraunt which had just got a new cheif. Now this time it was me doing the photographing :) I used my camera (EOS 400d) and i was away, snapping at this cheif as he was cooking something amazing. And then we photographed the food too. Difficult i must say, as i have never experienced food photography before.
And after we finnished, we got to eat the food. Three Course meal worth 400Kr ($150 NZ dollars) for free. Yummy.

Friday
DENMARKS PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2008-2009
I couldnt believe it. I was going to the Denmark photography awards. An invite only event. And I... from New Zealand... was going... WHAT!!!
It was absolutly amazing, best experiences of my LIFE. Surrounded by Famous photographers who were getting awards. The photographs were BRILLIANT. Something i wish i could do one day in the future. I was so inspired. So in love, with photography that is.

I didnt want to leave ofcourse, but had to. After a delioushous meal at the awards, Christian and i went back to the offices and edited the photos. The next job was at 7pm and this time i was going to photograph again. We went 20minutes out of Odense to a little school who was doing a play. I used my camera again with some of Christians Lenses. And off i went to photograph. It was fun, and inspiring as i felt like i was working for the newspaper. haha. The pictures i took were published in the Newspaper. With my name and everything. Can you believe it. They are below. Can't believe it. Best week of my life, something ill never forget, something which inspired me so much to be (what i had been thinking of for about a year but had other options)..

France and Swizerland Trip

So i thought i better update you all on what i have been doing :) I know i have been a little slack on the writing part, although you have seen pictures!!

As you may/ may not know i went to FRANCE on a ski Vacation on Friday the 23rd of Jan To the 1st Feb.

We Travelled from Denmark, Down into germany- through hamburg and frankfurt and Finally into france which took about 10 or more hours!!!!

When we got to France we drove to the highest mountain in the city we were in, to find a special place that we would stay that night. We were going to stay in a Monistry. A place where Nuns live, a sacered place just for them. It was home to one of the only woman Saints in the world many years ago. It was just beautiful. Snow was falling as we got there. Magical :)

So we stayed in this beautiful place! Had breakfast in the morning, IN FRANCE, French Style wahoo! I still couldnt believe i was in France though it was amazing. The Buildings were so beautiful, the views spectacular! This Beautiful building was called "Chapel of Tears" It was all seramics in gold.It was a place where the Woman Saint would go to cry for her father who died. The pictures on the walls were amazing , all detailed down to fingers and toes, flowers and insects. Very Symbolic pictures, and writing in Latin :)

So after seeing this magnificant place we travelled again another 10 hours i think, through Switerland and into France once again. I will never forget that car ride, besides being with my amazing new family, the view outside the window was like nothing i have ever seen before. Swizerland was cold and covered in snow, the houses of all colours so cute a clumped together. If you lived here you basically owned your own Vineyard. The whole country was covered in them, right next to your house, not suttle like in the country ( a field like in NZ) We drove past a huge lake and through the swiss/ french alps. One minute i was in Swizerland the next i was in France it was crazy. In france the houses changed though. There became long streets with hight houses towering over us. If you lived there you lived on your neibours doorstep literally, but it was kind of cozy!!

And at last we reached AVOIAZ, Located in the French Alps, right BAM in the middle. After a long drive i was ready to go to bed thats for sure. It was simply amazing at AVOIAZ, a city on the snow. Cafes, Bars, supermarkets, internet, shops, everything you ever need. We even had horses to take us around places!!! It was like christmas all year around, so cozy!.

And at last we went skiing, in France and Switerland. it was beautiful. The slopes like nothing i have every seen before wahooo :) i had the best week ever, best vacation!!!

Best Christmas ive ever had in Denmark.

Well ive only been here for one.

. The danes Celebrate Christmas on the 24th Of December in the evening. Which happens to be at the exact same time us us New Zealand Kids. Because Dk- NZ Time difference is 12 hours. At 8pm on the 24th When it was Christmas for Me. At 8am 25th It was Christmas For all you New Zealanders.

But don't worry all my people back home it did get sad too. I miss you guys like crazy and on the 25th of December i was really feeling the homesickness.

The 24th Of December 2008

1. Wake up at 9.30am, Breakfast Time. Typical Bread and Cheese, watever you like.

2. Travel to Give presents.

3. The tree is covered in red sheets so us children can't see it just yet.

4. Everyone comes over from all the familys, to put presents under our tree.

5. We get ready and go to Middelfart Church.

6. Come home with the family and Mormor og Morfar.

7. Eat Risengrudood/ Rice pudding. Who ever gets the White nut in their plate wins a prize! That happened to be jacob. Yay.

8. Eat the main course which was loveley Goose og duck og pork. Potatos and brown sauce. Chips. Purple cabbage.

9. Unveil the Christmas Tree. (which was BEAUTIFUL)

10. Hold hands around the christmas Tree.

11. Sing and dance/ walk around the christmas tree.

12. Dance to the neibours house, sing and dance around their tree hehe

13. Open Presents. Family time

This is just a few words of what we really did. But thats just so you no how a danish Christmas is. It was very Special to me having a Christmas in Denmark.

Lately these days i have to drag myself out of bed, the alarm goes off at 6.30am, the snoose button is pressed many times before i stumble out of bed at 7am. Mor is always in the kitchen making the lovley lunches of the day. And i, struggling to keep my eyes open, down a bowl of ceral, perhaps nearly pooring the juice insted of milk into the bowl.
I look out the window, its like a ritual. "What will be there today", i think. But the answer is still the same every day. BLACK. DARK. COLD. RAIN. SNOW.
I look at the degree metre. 0.2 Degrees. SHIT.
The ugg boots go on. The huge scalf around my neck a few times. Gloves , and ofcourse the BIG coat. I open the front door, where only the cold greets me. The Air so dry. The day so black.
I put the lights up on my bicycle. Red on the Back, White on the front. And trudge off on my journey. Every inch of grass is covered in small white icicles, they crunch as my bike rides over them. Snow is evident , and any water that was, has now frozen over. This is Winter.

It was amazing, every inch of Denmark is covered in Christmas, its truley amazing. Everything is so cosy! Its cold outside, but warm inside. Hot chocolates are served, the fires are alight. The candles are burning. The snow is falling, the people are wrapped up in their winter clothes.

Free Running with the Boys

Wahooooo This weekend was amazing. I went to Aarhus ( in Jutland ) Which is an hour away by train. Why did i go there do you say. Freerunning!

Free running is a physical art, in which participants (free runners) use the urban and rural areas to perform movements through its structures focused on freedom and beauty. It incorporates efficient movements from parkour, adds aesthetic vaults and other acrobatics, such as tricking and street stunts, creating an athletic and aesthetically pleasing way of moving. It is commonly practiced at gymnasiums and in urban areas that are cluttered with obstacles.

I went to Aarhus with Jakob, and watched him and his friends Trick it out all day long, jumping and doing tricks all over walls and on various buildings. It was really amazing. Like Nothing i had ever seen before! It was an great day despite the fact it was 0 Degrees or less! But they kept on going no matter what! Those boys are crazy, but its truley an amazing sport!

Last night i had an amazing night out with Simone and her Grandparents. It was such a nice evening just being together with Simones family in Federicia ( across the bridge from Middelfart ) The house was absolutly beautiful, overlooking the water, the two bridges and Middelfart. It was amazing. They were so nice, the first of Simones family i have met :) We had Dinner together and just talked all night. They also took Simone and I to see the new James Bond Movie after :) Such a nice evening :)

That Bad Weather

Some say Monday is a bad day to start with, it's Monday! But in Denmark right now, that is the least of my worries!!! The weather in Denmark is getting sooo bad here, this morning i rode my bicycle to school- well i thought thats what i was doing, but i was hardly moving as the wind was so bad! I wear rain pants and a jacket, damnn its hard bicycling in all this, keeping the hood over my head , sweating because its hard but freezing because its so cold haha oooh the wonders of the Danish weather. Hehe it's the cultural experience.. i keep saying that to myself... haha X

I had one of the best Birthday/ Fodselsdag ever!!

Okay well i shall start at the start haha.

29th October 2008, Middelfart, Denmark.

At 6.00am my bedroom door opens and i am sudderenly awoken by my family singing a song as they enter..

"I dag er det "SHANNON"'s fødselssdag Hurra, hurra, hurra!Han sikkert sig en gave fårsom han har ønsket sig i årmed dejlig chokolade og kager til.
Hvor smiler han, hvor er han gladhurra, hurra, hurra!men denne dag er også rarfor hjemme venter "Mom and Dad, whoever birthdayboy lives with"med dejlig chokolade og kager til.
Og når han hjem fra "school, place of work" gårhurra, hurra, hurra!så skal han hjem og holde festog hvem, der kommer med som gæstfår dejlig chokolade og kager til.

It was so great! I wish i had a camera damn!! I had never ever been woken up like that with a song. And so The danish experience begins!

The whole family sit down on my bed as i start to get presents! Firstly i got some indoor udd boot things! So cumfi ( from Ziggy, the dog haha) Then i got a purple lap top case, so funky, so me! And then.... the whole family said oh just one more small thing.. A brand new phone.. WHITE. its amazing! So now i have a danish phone YUS finally (as my phone wasnt working before) but this was more than i expected, it was truly truly lovely :)

Then we all got ready for the day and had breakfast. The table , around the table, outside and down the driveway was all covered in Danish flags ( this is what they do in Denmark, danish flags everywhere on your birthday so people know!!) It was amazing! We ate a special cake/ bread with brown sugar baked. ( tradition in Denmark to be a shape of a person with a face and the persons name, with lollies and decorations all over it-- see picture) mmmm YUMMY :)

Then i set off for school :) I had an awesome day at school with my friends and ofcourse more traditions come too.. The whole class sang to me.. another danish song :) And then i gave the class some New Zealand Lollies- Mintis and pineapple lumps hehe aparantly here when its YOUR birthday YOU bring lollies.. i dont no how that works but anyway haha. My friends wrote on the blackboards at school too (HAPPY BIRTHDAY/ Tillkke med fodselsdag) see pictures haha it was awesome.

Then i bicycled on home, to be greeted with more flag, more people, more presents. It was really an awesome day. The whole family came over later and celebrated with me, about 20 people all up + my friends. I got beautiful presents even jewelery! from my friends-typical danish so i will always remember my birthday. I made sausage rolls and Pavlova for part of my dinner so i had a little bit of home with me too so that was great. ( i was teaching my friends how to make it hehe) Dinner was great! The night was amazing, i really had one of the best fodselsdags ever. And in Denmark. Such a great Day.

To top it all off i got 50 comments on facebook from friends around the world ( no overexageration either) 50 exactly haha so that was awesome to know people were thinking about me even though i wasnt there :) Dad, Mum and Daina called me which was so lovely. It made my birthday :) Now ive got my old family and my new one. friends from everywhere. Seriously having a ball. I Can't stop smiling :)

Weekend AGAIN

Where do the weekdays go to!!!

Wow the time has come for Kyla to go home already. Its Crazy that she is leaving already but her time has come and she has been in Denmark for a year now. And i have been here for three months. Crazy how fast the time passes without you even noticing although mum says it feels like ive been gone forever. So this weekend was great, time to catch up with the New Zealand kids and party hard. I was so nervous to see them again as i hadn't seen them in 3 months but it was natural, i miss good old New Zealand now ive had a taste of only a little part. I really hadn't realised how much i did miss the small things untill we all felt the same. But loving Denmark more (sorry Hamilton).

The party for Kyla was great!! Exchangys partying way to hard saying goodbye to Kyla. It lasted all night long, involving various drinks , dancing and photographs, oh dont let me forget the trampoline :) Fun times with 10 people at once :) haha.

I also got to spend time with my family this weekend as on friday it was a family birthday, so all the family went to Michael's house (Mor's brother). It was huge . I love it here how everything is so family orientated, so much time is spent together as one, celebrating ,laughing, joking and eating together. Makes me realise how much family and friends really mean, even from the other side of the world i know my friends are AMAZING. You know who you are :) .

New Zealand FOOD, would you believe it.

Yesterday i made a Pavlova and Sausage rolls Can you believe it. It was interesting alright but it worked well in the end! The Pavlova was crazy fun to make with Jacob. It took us maybe 2 or 3 hours because we had no idea what to do ha ha. But in the end it tasted SO great, we even topped it with Kiwi Fruit from New Zealand. Now that's crazy, going to the supermarket here in Middelfart Denmark and finding Kiwi Fruit with a sticker that says "NEW ZEALAND" on it.
And the dessert was gone in 5 minutes!! So it must have tasted pretty damn good, well nice for my first time making it ;) Then i made Sausage rolls which no one had ever heard of or seen before!!!! aha they were good too, made all by hand, Not just a buy from old New World!!! Next time ill make a steak and cheese pie?? Hm that might not impress them too much huh, Good old New Zealand food, gotta love it!!

VACATION IN GERMANY

Well, This week has been VACATION week for everyone!! So our Demant family (hehe) decided to go to Germany! We went on Tuesday to a place called Hamburg which is only three hours from Middelfart! Isn't that Crazy! In New Zealand we would travel three hours and get to Taupo haha not another country! Its really great here! So we took the three hour trip and on the way i noticed the car going over a hundred... over one hundred and fifty... over two hundred... That's because in Germany they have no speed limits in some places!!! I really wondered how there is no car accidents.. but in Europe to buy a car is Very expensive and if you have that kind of money, you can drive.. very well haha. No Boy racers here! haha When we got to Hamburg, it was really like nothing i had ever seen in my life. It looked like i was in a movie! The houses were absolutely gorgeous!! Such a cute little town, seriously amazing.

We went Go-carting at the Ralf Schumacher Racecourse. ( The little brothe of Michael Schumacher, the world famous driver) It was awesome, a little better than "dateona" in Hamilton haha. Id say a lot better haha. It was great fun, and the Go-carts went sooo fast, Faster than any id ever seen before. By the end, my nickname was "Parker" haha but in mydefence i only spun out once and in the next race Jacob hit me, so its not my fault i like to drift haha.

Then on Wednesday we all went to the SKI DOME. Indoor ski and snowbaording place which was also amazing!!! It is here where i learned to snowboard haha. I though about skiing, but becasue i already am pretty good and it was only 400m indoor, i would give snowboarding a go! nd knowing me, im Goofy.. I really dont no what that means... I am weird at snowboarding perhaps?? haha But it was actually a lot easier than i expected, and i wasnt so goofy afterall becasue i could snowboard both ways. turn and stop and everything all n one day. I think i did pretty well for one day haha Jacob and Mikkel also snowboareded too. They were really good! And Mor, Far and Maria were skiing away. It was a really awesome Vacation, just with the family and im so glad i got to be with them a bit more. There was no Vacation with a little game called Sequince. AMAZING game which ofcourse Jacob and I Dominated in haha No all the family was good, but i will never forget the times we played this game in the middle of the hotel cafe, laughing and screaming at eachother, really i am so glad this family picked me. I am so happy in Denmark

This weekend has been great. On friday i went to Buddy Holly, it was soo much fun just with the girls and being together. Taking loads of photos and dancing a lot!! Great Girls weekend. LOts of fun all round!!

Wahooo On Wednesday i went to Aarhus, the first time i had been to the northen parts of DK. It was a really busy busy city but looked lovely. I hope i go back there someday!!! But our class just went to a Museum and the univercity , BORING haha. But still, it was great with my friends :)

OkaY so here it is what i have been up to for the last month haha sorry it has taken so damn LONg

First things first MIDDELFART had a carnival haha who would have thought, with dancing and music and bands and a circus and boat rides it was crazy until 9pm haha then it got a lil boring haha. Of course is was Friday night so my friend Simone came over and of course played NZ drinking games with lots of friends haha good times..... really fun, until MADAGASCAR came on with danish people talking, i mean what the HELL haha the was the end for me BED haha I went to H.C Anderson's house, the guy who wrote the little mermaid and such the ugly ducking very very cool!! I have also been skating here, man i miss IT !!

I have danish school every Monday and Wednesday, its funny going with the others we have such a good time being losers in another city, good FUN!

One Saturday i went to Kopenhagen for a family mid year Christmas party (was really fun and that's how much my family likes Christmas ha ha) it was in this beautiful house situated looking over the water wow it was amazing, all done up of course, a beauty i would dream to live in. The people there were amazing, my new family for the year! i honestly had a ball. We played so many games and just did funny stuff all day. One thing was a relay of transporting eels.... I'm not sure if that's traditional in Denmark ha ha it was certainly different!!!!! Holding slimy eels to give to the next person haha JUST CRAZY!

I have also been on the west coast of Denmark, in Jutland my host family has a summer house! It beats me why so many danish people want houses in the woods haha near nothing, but it was a different experience for me and was really amazing and it was fun all the same! Family time! quiet time, relax time haha.

Then there was the Gymnasium party, soooooooooo Much fun. Three party's in one night. 500 people at the school drinking alcohol with teachers, now thats crazy!

i also went to the AFS camp this weekend just been. It was awesome, i got to know people soo much better and made more friends that i didnt know before! SWISS, U.S.A ,AUSSI and NZ rule hehe They are awesome kids.

NOW, i am relaxing waiting for my matey Simone to come over and stay tonight as the teachers declared we have no school tomorrow!!! XXX

Soooo sorry i havnt written for sooo long, i have just been so busy with everything here its crazy hehe. So IVE BEEN HERE TWO MONTHS now. Thats crazy because it has just flown on by, and i really feel part of this family. i still cant believe im here sometimes but seriously i am having a ball.

Funny Weekend

Well i havnt written in here for a while, i guess its because im so damn busy with everything going on!! but i thought i better update you all.

Schools school haha then on friday night the town Middelfart had a carnival, it was so nice!!! People frm all over Middelfart came out and there were shops and music and costumes and old dancing. There were bands, circus acts and boat rides!! It was a really fun night just seeing how Middelfart really is and what fun it can have... Got a little tooo old for us about nine though so.....my friend Simone came over and Jacob had one of his friends Yonas over too, we played drinking games it was a lot of fun haha the New Zealand way!!! Then on Saturday we all just bumed around and relaxed! Saturday night Jacob and i watched scary movies till 4am and man one of them was the scaryest movie i have ever seen in my life!!! ´´The Decent´´ omg, it was crazy scary!!!! And on sunday we all made a family trip to the H.C Andersons house which ofcourse was in Odense (the largest city on Fyn). That was amazing, i got to see a great writter ) who wrote The little mermaid and The Ugly duckling for those of you who nver knew) haha but it really was something else!! We then went to a little village that was preserved, so people like tourist me and come and see what life was like in the time that H.C. Anderson lived. It was crazy but really amazing because we really have nothing like that in New Zealand, no way that old!!

Monday, Danish lessons again!! Its slowly coming people, don't worry!! Felipe and i took some exchange student momments which ofcourse are hilarious and stupid!! But we make the most out of everything haha So much fun!! Very Tired. But having the time of my life wahooooooo xxx

Today i had to catch the train to Odense and go to my 1st Danish school! It was great meeting people from all over the world living on my island wahoooo. I even met exhange students from Middelfart Gymnasium who i'd never met before! One guy Felipe (Brazil) was crazy and talkative like me so we caught the train home together! Not so nervous when you arn't lost by yourself haha I got lost many times bicycling to the station and home and even in Odense haha It was a great day!! XX

Lazy Sunday

Today the family went boating once again! Was VERY fun, except the huge waves and the tiny boat !!! We went to a little batch tiny i tell you and just sat in the beautiful 25 degree weather and got A TAN. YUS -- Hamilton i hope you're feeling the cold!!!! hehe. Then Mor Mor and Mor far came and even Mor mor far (great grandad) Jacob, Jonas( Jacobs good friend who went on an exchange to Aussi), the fisherman (forgot his name) and and exchange studen Rachael (met Jonas in aussi) went out on the boat for some fun and went all around Middelfart ( see picture below!! ) It was such a nice day, i had a lot of fun!

On saturday was the class party, it was very nice to hang out with my class mates and eat dinner drink etc. I believe i was way to tired though and went home early as did everyone else ( as Friday night at Buddy Holly was a late one) haha Very NICE!

Epic Weekend

Wahooo I'm having sooo much fun i hardly have any time to write on my blog. School is fantastic i really love my class a lot and they are all very very nice!! I have some awesome friends too!! The teachers are a bit crazy though. My friend Sara and Sofia got told off on Friday for helping me understand something. Now this i don't understand!!! I am bicycling to school every morning and night ( we get off school at 1pm YUS hehe ) just like a danish kid!!! Then i relax with the family all night. We usually watch movies haha. On thursday we went out for dinner at Cafe Razz. It was soo beautiful and on the waterfront too. VERY nice food!!! What a Treat!! Friday Night was ofcourse PARTY NIGHT haha Buddy Holly (the local club was holding a Fest for Gymnasium and Business school, it was fantastic, i met a lot more people and danced and partyed the night away. it really was greeat with my new friends!! Then Today i woke up, quite late i must tell you. And Jacob and i went Boating! Its really nice just to go on the nice flat water in 25 degrees of a sunny day and just cruze!! We saw dolphins and Seals so that was nice. On the way home (on Jacobs scooter) we went for a ticki tour of Middelfart. It was really amazing just zooming by all of Middelfart looking at this beautiful place that is now my home for a year. I have been in Denmark for a month today and I really can't get enough of it!!! I love it so much already! XX

Afs Camp

Yay for AFS Fyn camp! In the complete middle of know where, through the forest you could find us, maybe! From Saturday 6pm till today 3pm was the AFS Fyn camp. We got to meet about 12 exchange students living on the Island of Fyn and get to know them a little better! Although the weather wasn't too good we had fun playing stupid games and today Kyla and I even decided to go on an adventure through the wilderness. and the rest followed our crazy lead. We met all the host familys and had lunch. I was about ready for a nap as i got woken up all hours of the night. SILLY exchnage students i say.

Wahoooo Last night was amazing!!! My first party in Denmark!!!! I got to know my class mates really well, party and dance all night!!! Was such a great night. We also went to a place called Walker. Which is like a club with live bands. It was really amazing-- nothing like ive seen in NZ before!! Dance Dance Dance!!

Today at school was DENMARK GYMNASIUM OLYMPICS 2008 hehe

And of course the best class of all 1.y ( my class-- with the cool exchange student haha) Were FRANCE hehe. So we dressed up HARD and danced and sung our hearts out. We sprang and jumped. We ran and did the can-can (that is NO JOKE) we did aerobics like crazy Danes , made sculptures. In the end i think we lost haha and also got saturated by the rain of summer in dk. How lovely, it can go from 20 degrees to raining like winter in NZ. So i trudged on home in the rain haha. It was seriously the best day to get to know everyone. The Dress ups were crazy! The Danes interpretation on AUSTRALIA was Crack up!! BLACK and all bush like!!! I have made some awesome friends already, i can't wait to see what the rest of the year will be like.

And-- tonight is Party time hehe for 1.y at Lasse's house! YUS.

It's also ANDREW ROSES BIRTHDAY TODAY( in nz) tomorrow for me, Happy Birthday Andrew. you get a special mention on my blog haha XX

Wahoo what a day its been. From waking up and being tired tired tired to being active and happy with all the Demant kids-- including adults! Its been heaps of sun. First we got up, ha a slow tiring breakfast then cruzed the day through. Playing Garden Volley was crack up. Then we went Sailing (as they call it) Boating as we do as the boat we went on had no SAIL!!! It was cool. Jacob (yacob) , Maria and Casper showed me everythi to see in the Middelfart Harbour, including the bridge from Fyn (where i live) to Jutland- (Big island connected to Germany) It was awesome. I'm Loving it!! X

School was so great today! I Had an awesome time with my class, made some friends and had a blast dong good old "building activities haha Felt like i was 3rd form again which is what i basically am haha It was awesome tho.. Now im home ive had anap and im just exuasted, We walked 10km no joax! To get to the "special place" today then when we got there had to walk all around the forest haha it was beautiful though. I am suppose to be going to dinner with everyone from 1y and then a party after but i don't think i would make it, im smashed i need more sleep haha AS lame as that may sound but Jetlag + 10km walk +People speaking DANISH 24/7 Don't make it easy lol And i Can't WAIT to meet my host family tonight!! 2am!!!! Bring it on. haha

Shesh well today is friday and I have school from 8am untill 12pm, its activites all day with my fellow 1.g class mates. haha mates?? where lol Hopefully today i will make some friends. I hear we have to walk around town holding hands with a guy from our grade haha this will be funny. Lets hope he can speak english or i seriously have a problem. I think i will come home at lunch time to have a nap!! Jet lag sneaks up on me! Then after the "Party" later, i will come home and meet my new Family!!! At 2am saturday morning haha. Should be good! MIDDELFART

Wahoooo I'm finally in my new home in Middelfart Denmark! Don't worry to much guys its produced Mi(ll)-fard. I'm sooo happy im finally here!!!! YAY Except the family is still in Spain! I am staying with Mor Mor and Mor Far (mothers, mother) (mothers, father) its awesome. I've met some cousins and everything i feel part of the family definitely!! except i haven't MET the family lol The house is beautiful and I'm so happy they have let me into their lives for a year XX

P.S Mor Mor and Mor Far don't speak English!!! This should be fun!!!!

1st Day of School

Time to meet the real Danish world .... SCHOOL
It was most definitely the scariest day I've ever had, although it was exciting scary!! lol It started off with Bjarka, Francine (Alaska) and I travelling to Middelfart from Ringe (which is where i am living at the momment, untill saturday YAY) . Me being shifty the whole way i must say. I met the principal, sat in the hall with all the other students and went with my class. When we entered the room there were a pile of books a mile high i sware!!! Sooo much reading, and when i looked through them, OHH one book i could read and very well!! ENGLISH YUS haha.

Then the teachers blabered on in Danish for an hour and a half, wouldn't have a damn clue what they were saying haha This will be interesting!!! Shesh!! Then everyone started to get up and leave-- Shit, where were they going, i had to ask a girl on the way out haha, Break time. Great-- i no no one at this school, what a cool kid!! lol So i just walked casual as out of the class room to meet some students from my class looking my way. "Hi im Shannon from New Zealand" and they all kind of stared at me..haha then i talked a little with a girl and then back to danish land but with kids lol it was so awquared being the tag along for one, but then standing there having no IDEA what was going on. They could have been saying anything in the world and i just would have stood there haha

Then we went back to class and older students from 3rd gymnasium where there to greet us and "chat" not that i understand chat at all haha. We played name games ,not that i remember any ones names lol and had a tour of the school where i made a friend!!!!!! Melanie who kind of translated all the danish for me, she was nice so im glad i met at least a couple of people... Not so bad first day huh. School finished at 11 and we have it tomorrow too but as im in Ringe i am not going until Friday where it is activities all day and a chill time with the class-- then a party at school haha so hopefully i make more friends there huh.

GERMANY

Today i went to GERMANY!! It seriously was amazing, just after being here in Denmark for 10 days i get to Travel to Germany!! Wahooo . I went with Kyla, Bjarka and solvej on a journey that only took an hour and a half! Thats like going from Hamilton to Auckland in New Zealand! Just crazy!! I also thought that there would be customs or something starnge like this.. passport control but no just a sign welcome to Germany haha. Then Shopping here we come!! Everything is SUPER cheap in germany, soo much fun lol Was great fun xx Tomorrow first day of school, god im nervous. xx

Sundays, Sundays
What to do in this Danish weather. One minute its 30 degrees the next its overcast and raining! So the best thing to do is watch some crack up Danish T.V. Watch some amazing movies. Eat Fatty food and nap lol theres no other way!!!!! haha. xx

10:00pm- Going to Get Kyla from Ulbolle, It was so beautiful to watch the sun going down this late. Usually taking an hour on bus and train we got th in under half an hour. The speed limits here are crazy!!! 160kmph.......... I really don't understand that, so many people must die. We also saw a castle (SOOO FRICKING AMAZING) and the famous Youth Prison in DK, scary shit!!

Breakfast in Denmark, Sooo Rich. Going to get soo Fat haha. This is called Brunsviger. It it basically just like bread with brown suger all over the top of it, melted to it. Tastes really sweet and nice but soooooooo fatty!!! haha I've had it twice in two weeks!!

Then there is palaegschokolade. Chocolate on bread for breakfast!!!!

Holme Gaaed Glass Factory

Yesterday we (Kyla, Bjaka and I) went to Holme Gaaed glass factory. It was wicked fun!! Looking at how glass was made and then making it ourseleves. Ofcourse i had to buy some at the end. Holme Gaaed is world famous for its glass and i was right there in the factory!! Kyla and I also found our inner children haha as we played madly on the "kids" playground. Making the most ov every oppurtunity i'd say. X

So, because my host family are in Spain on Vacation, i'm in a little town called Ulbolle with an Australian exchange student Kyla!! Its awesome fun just chilling and getting to know the country side, the people the lifestyle. The sleep in to 12pm haha. It's really good, i'm loving is soo much!! We went to town to find practical things i needed and found out everything is very expensive over here. oney, money, money!! haha.

We also visited Kylas school friends, typical Danish boys! lol Insted of living at home with their parents like normal 17 year olds they have their own apartments which was very cool i must say. The danish way!! Loving it.

AFS CAMP

Wahoooo AFS Camp 2008.

Seriously fun with completer strangers, from all over the world lol

At first i was a nervous reck. I had no idea what to expect, would i make friends or just be the outcast of the group haha. But in the end it was the most fun of my life. I met sooo many new people and got no know them all very well in only four days. It feels like ive simply known them for a lifetime. We were crazy , but thats alowed we're afs students !!!

We got to learn how to cook Danish food-- PIZZA lol not so Danish after all. Which was absolutly classic with italians screaming 'NOooooooo" as we cooked them the "danish way". haha.

Dishes were an important part of everyday, 200 plates to clean at breakfast lunch and dinner. i'd say the NZ and U.S.A would have been a prominant part of this ruteen. Singing and dancing was a must every!! The maori war cry with an american twist was amazing and dances from all over the world.

Shesh Finally here

So After waiting and waiting to go to Denmark, the time had finally come for me to leave! Wahooooo, Off into the big wide world!!
Thursday morning i left Hamilton with a storm (literally there were floods everywhere) haha. Saying goodbye to my best friend Jess at 6am, and leaving my fimilliar surroundings of home. The airport was scary, i met new people from NZ who accompanied me into this great adventure. Tears ran as i said goodbye to those closest to me. It was so hard saying goodbye to my mum and dad, specially because thet have become much more than just this title to me, a bestfriend too. As i looked back at those who matter the most in my life, somewhere , somehow i knew it was going to be okay. This is just the new chapter of my life-- Bring it on.

First Stop-- Singapore Airport--Wahooo. I'll never forget this stop. 12 hours after we left NZ and we had some over tired teens on out hands alright. Not on my hands lol i was the overtired hypo dypo teenager with good old Kate Muir and Sean Kelly Of course!! Everything and anything was a laugh although Not to the Singapore troops who watched our every move with Guns draped over their shoulders. Ready to pounce on anyone or anything at any momment.
A cut finger, 40 cents, "plaster please", no ,no ,no.
Great times were had in that place. And us "Kool Kids" will forever remember the ride of our lives. Its gunna make us or break us.

Frankfrut and then Denmark. Asleep for four hours awake the rest, trying to understand that We're in Denmark for one year of our lives. Living a normal teens life in a different place, a differet language and perhaps a different time.
